Upcoming Trips

The trips below are generally run under the auspices of the AMC. In some cases Steve will be leading trips under the auspices of Adventure Travel with Steve, LLC [ATWS] not the AMC. These trips have fewer participants and have more of a front country, “off-the-beaten track’ vibe to them. These will all have “ATWS” in the trip title.

HIKING IN THE ITALIAN DOLOMITES: BOLZANO TO LAKE GARDA (#2412) July 13-24, 2024 [vigorous]

We explore the historic city of Bolzano, home of Utsi ‘The Iceman’, before beginning an eight-day luggage supported trek to the shores of Lake Garda. We enjoy a day of relaxation there before taking a ferry to the famous Sirmione peninsula, home to a medieval castle and noteworthy Roman ruins. Three star hotels throughout.

FAVORITE DAY HIKES AND MORE IN SWITZERLAND’S VALAIS REGION (#2431) August 25-September 5, 2024 [vigorous]

Day hiking of the most visually exciting sections of the Haute Route, the popular, classic trek from Chamonix, France to Zermatt, Switzerland, with an exploration of the mountains surrounding Saas-Fee, one of Switzerland's most attractive alpine valleys. All breakfasts, dinners, and local transportation included.

FAVORITE DAY HIKES AND MORE IN SWITZERLAND’S ENGADIN REGION (#2435) September 7-19, 2024 [vigorous]

The Engadin region, located in south-eastern Switzerland, borders Italy.  It is an ideal hiking area dotted with snow-capped mountain peaks, expansive glaciers, and verdant valleys.  It includes Switzerland’s only national park, its largest biodiversity reserve. Steve’s favorite hikes are based in three-star hotels and overnights in two mountain lodges. All breakfasts, dinners, and local transportation included.




XC SKIING AND MORE IN SWITZERLAND’S ENGADIN REGION (#2526) January 26 - February 4, 2025, vigorous

Outstanding nordic skiing near Pontresina, Switzerland. 240km of classically groomed trails. Daily ski trips of ~15-20km geared towards intermediate-advanced skiers. Bonus two days of magnificent winter hiking in the alps. Bountiful breakfasts, gourmet dinners, luxurious lodging, ski pass and local transportation included.

ULTIMATE SICILY: HIKING, HISTORY, CULTURE, AND CUISINE (#2506) April 5-19, 2025 moderate Excellent hikes of moderate duration are combined with guided visits to sites of historical, archaeological, architectural and cultural significance.  Stay in unique three- or four-star accommodations in beautiful, small towns.  Most meals and transport by private bus included.

HIKING AND EXPLORING ITALY’S CINQUE TERRE AND GENOA [ATWS] April 20-27, 2025 vigorous

Hike through and above the iconic five small villages that are strung along a breathtakingly scenic chunk of coastline, the brightly painted buildings perched precariously on the side of rocky cliffs. Transfer to Genoa to explore this historic city that retains all its medieval charm, splendid palaces, and Italy’s largest seaport. Enjoy “Liberation Day” there as well as a jaunt to S. Margherita Ligure and Portofino, two classic seaside resorts.   Stay in three-star accommodations.  All transportation internal to the trip and most meals included.

EXPLORING FRANCE’S NORMANDY AND BRITTANY COASTLINES [ATWS] June 2-12, 2025 moderate

Part I of this tour is a cultural exploration: a day’s excursion to the Normandy World War II beaches and related sites, the iconic monastery at Mont St Michel, the coastal town of St. Malo, and the beautifully preserved village of Dinan. Part II is a luggage-supported trek along the Brittany’s rose granite coastline Stay in two and three-star accommodations.  All transportation internal to the trip and most meals included.

DAY HIKING IN TICINO: THE SWISS REGION WITH THE ITALIAN/ MEDITERRANEAN FLAIR #2519 June 14-25, 2025 vigorous

The Ticino region is Italian speaking part of Switzerland.  The mountainous regions are wilder, more remote, and less populated compared to other areas.  Ticino tempers its classic Alpine looks with Italian good living.  We traverse Ticino from north to south, staying in the three principal towns of Airolo, Bellinzona, and Lugano.  One day set aside to explore cultural highlights of the region. Three-star hotels, all transportation internal to the trip and most meals included.
