The Wind River Range is one of the largest in the continental US. A spectacular wilderness preserve of over two million acres, it offers excellent opportunities for hiking, climbing, etc. Together with five friends [this was not an AMC trip] we camped at 10,500’ and spent a week exploring the Island Lake region.
